About Airborne Dust Monitoring

Airborne dust monitoring is typically undertaken when a client’s workplace is exposed to dust – either by the nature of the client’s business or from an external source. The purpose of dust monitoring is to understand workers’ exposure and determine if unknown contaminants in the air are safe, and/or to verify the levels of dust exposure at the workplace. GCG’s consultants are capable of monitoring both inhalable and respirable dust in accordance with appropriate Australian industry standards and regulations. Dust monitoring is particularly important for businesses, where workers have the potential to be exposed to Coal Dust, Respirable Dust, Crystalline Silica/Quartz, as long periods of elevated exposure, can lead to adverse health effects. Extended exposure to Coal Dust can lead to Coal Workers Pneumoconiosis (CWP), a disease that may cause shortness of breath and long term cough. Prolonged inhalation of Respirable Crystalline Silica/Quartz can contribute to Silicosis, a form of lung disease that causes chest pains, shortness of breath, and severe cough. GCG’s in-house laboratory capability allows us to execute gravimetric analysis of Inhalable and Respirable samples in all of GCG’s three NATA accredited laboratories, delivering prompt turnaround for clients. GCG regularly undertake:
  • Respirable Crystalline Silica Monitoring
  • Respirable Coal Dust Monitoring

Why choose GCG?

From a business perspective, GCG recognises the emphasis to run business operations smoothly to ensure
companies benefit from continued operations and profit gain. A lack of both safety and hygiene planning at the
workplace can ensue challenges around the workflow and possibly allow long-term health effects at your company.
This is why the Consultants at GCG take pride in producing quality yet effective work to ensure clients hold a clear
advantage – to commence operations as per usual and to keep the issue contained and/or eliminated. The main part
of the job is to figure out the clients’ requirements based on size, scope, location, and budget to fully understand
what is expected.

GCG’s hygiene consultants are professionals in the industry who are certified with the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists (AIOH).
